Meditation can help reduce stress, better your health in many ways, and offer you a key to self-empowerment.

Many people have a uninformed view of meditation and wonder, “What is meditation and what good can it do me?” While some people may have visions of monks in far off lands sitting together in silence when they think about meditation. Meditation is actually becoming a practice that is quite popular among people from all walks of life

Statistics show that people who practice meditation have shown marked improvements in their mental and physical health. Clinical studies show that meditation helps lower blood pressure, reduces anxiety, cures insomnia, lowers blood pressure and respiratory rates. It is because of these findings that more and more doctors are recognizing the therapeutic benefits of meditation and are suggesting that their patients learn meditation.

During a meditation retreat you will learn breathing exercises and various meditation techniques. After a light lunch you will have the opportunity to practice your new skills, outside, surrounded by the beauty of nature.

Renew your body, spirit, and mind with meditation. Try this for 15 minutes.

  1. Place yourself in a comfortable position.  As few distractions from your body as possible.

  1. You may simply count your breaths. You may choose a word or a phrase to focus on out of your faith tradition.

  1. You will note the chatter of the mind.  Bring yourself gently and firmly back to the counting, word or phrase.  That is your only task.  You will note how undisciplined the mind really is, how it refuses to do the bidding of our will.  Patience, discipline, and will are key words.
