Often, when people hear the term ‘commitment
ceremony’ they automatically assume it is a
same-sex union. This is not always the case.
There are many reasons why couples can’t (or
choose not to) legally marry.
Although not legally binding, a
Commitment/Affirmation of Love ceremony
marks a new beginning. This can be a private
moment shared between two people or can
include family and friends with a public
celebration.
It is very similar to a wedding ceremony and
much of the same wording can be used. The
main difference is the couple cannot be
pronounced, husband and wife... ‘By the
power vested in me, I now pronounce you
husband and wife…..etc’.
Other than that, vows are spoken, rings are
exchanged, promises are made. It is a
marriage of the heart.Asheville
has become very popular for commitment
ceremonies but there are many wonderful
locations in the mountains of North
Carolina. If you're looking for a secluded
location to speak your promises privately
you may want to check out our retreat
center,
RiverMist.

True Love
True love is a sacred flame That burns eternally, And none can dim its special glow Or change its destiny. True love speaks in tender tones And hears with gentle ear, True love gives with open heart And true love conquers fear. True love makes no harsh demands It neither rules nor binds, And true love holds with gentle hands The hearts that it entwines.
